Osteotome Sinus Floor Elevation in Severely-Resorbed Residual Bone and Immediate Implant Placement without Bone Grafting
نویسنده
چکیده
Continuous advancements in the field of implant dentistry have provided clinicians with various treatment options to facilitate the placement of dental implants in patients with vertical bone deficits in the posterior maxilla. Today, one of the most common ways to compensate for inadequate vertical bone height is to elevate the sinus floor by tenting of the schneiderian membrane by the implant which is guided by itself eliminating the need for bone graft. This chapter showes the osteotome sinusfloor elevation and immediate implant placement are also possible in severely resorbed alveolar bone without bone grafting in single or multible implant placements procedures. Extensive and traumatic conventional lateral approach for sinus lifting and grafting procedures can be avoided even in highly resorbed alveolar bone using this technique. The author hopes that this chapter will prove a valuable resources and references for clinicians placing implants in patients requiring sinus floor elevation in severely resorbed residual bone with simultaneous implant placement without bone grafting to minimize the risk complications and to ensure predictable and stable long term results.

Staged Osteotome Sinus Floor Elevation for Progressive Site Development and Immediate Implant Placement in Severely Resorbed Alveolar Bone: A Case Report
This case report discusses osteotome sinus floor elevation (OSFE) and immediate placement in 2 stages in severely resorbed alveolar bone height in which multiple implant placement is not otherwise feasible due to a lack of initial stability. The first implant placed using OSFE without bone grafting prepares the adjacent resorbed sites for further implant placement in the sinus areas, which allo...

Rehabilitation of the atrophied edentulous maxilla is complicated. Often the residual bone height is insufficient for implant placement due to crestal bone resorption and pneumatization of the sinus. The meticulous management of the available residual bone, the atraumatic sinus lifting procedure, and the proper selection of the implants are the keys to successful dental implantation in resorbed ...

BACKGROUND Little is known about the long-term outcome of implants placed in the atrophic maxilla using osteotome sinus floor elevation (OSFE) without grafting. PURPOSE The study aims to evaluate the long-term efficiency of the procedure and stability of the peri-implant bone formed following implant placement without grafting into resorbed posterior maxilla. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-fi...
متن کاملParadigm Shift in the Management of the Atrophic Posterior Maxilla
When the posterior maxilla is atrophic, the reference standard of care would be to perform sinus augmentation with an autologous bone graft through the lateral approach and delayed implant placement. However, placement of short implants with the osteotome sinus floor elevation technique and without graft can be proposed for an efficient treatment of clinical cases with a maxillary residual bone...

PURPOSE This case report discusses 2 patients who required implant placement in the atrophic posterior maxilla to support a fixed prosthesis with the least invasive and shortest procedure. However, in these cases...
